About Us
Building community and improving lives through quality affordable housing services in the Blackland neighborhood. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home.

About the Organization
Since 1983, the Blackland Community Development Corporation has worked to build, purchase, and maintain affordable housing for the families and individuals who make up the fabric of Central East Austin. What began as a neighborhood's fight against displacement has grown into a proven model for community-led development; one that keeps working families, elderly residents, and people with disabilities rooted in a neighborhood that has long been home.
Today, BCDC manages more than 50 households scattered throughout the 28-block Blackland neighborhood. Our portfolio includes units reserved for transitional families, elderly residents, and adults with mental or physical disabilities. We keep rents deeply affordable by operating lean, reinvesting resources back into our properties and tenants, and partnering with organizations that share our values. 80 cents of every dollar we raise goes directly to the people we serve.
We are more than a housing provider. We are a neighbor, an advocate, and a keeper of the community's history. The dream that started here in 1983 is still very much alive.
